Purifying one's soul is an obligation upon every Muslim , so that he may achieve success and happiness in this world and in the hereafter.

However, this spiritual purification can be hindered by two types of pitfalls: illnesses of the soul which find their source in passions and ambiguities , and external obstacles constituted by temptations , the malicious suggestions of Satan , bad company and the influence of family and society.

Hence the importance of approaching the Islamic methodology in matters of purification of the soul which requires first the treatment of the illnesses of this soul and the elimination of the obstacles which hinder this quest.
